Are you entitled to get paid if your company closes because of the storm or if you can’t make it into to work because of weather issues? There are several factors involved, including whether you are an exempt or non-exempt employee, federal and state law, and company policy.
The Department of Labor issues opinion letters which provide guidance for employers to follow in paying exempt employees (who are exempt from overtime pay requirements) during periods of inclement weather. The guidelines are different based upon whether the company is closed because of the weather or whether the company is open and the employee can’t get to work or otherwise misses work. http://goo.gl/RTjyl
