Layoff Tracker. It reports on all anounced layoffs.
The scary thing is to look at the number of posts so far this year: 181.
Fascinating.
On the other hand, my husband got a call from a headhunter this morning. So, there are jobs out there.

Definitely depressing!
On another note, read an article on Forbes which said that 73 out of the Fortune 100 companies are hiring! So, Yes! there are jobs out there.
Agreed, TONS of jobs are out there. Just not in Michigan.
There are jobs out there but there’s still a mismatch between laid off workers’ skills and job openings. For example, the medical field is always open. I would guess that most if not all of the people laid off recently are not in the medical field, though.
I learned from a recruiter that call centers are a popular hiring spot as well, at least in my region. But then, laid off production workers wouldn’t necessarily be able to jump right into that working environment.
Or the fact that on the same Forbes.com the January lay-off tracker posted some 174,000 jobs lost in January alone.
TARP is paying off big dividends…lol
What would you buy with $1.5 trillion dollars? *sigh*
I read your January column about average students.
