It’s difficult to avoid subjectiveness even if we intend to, but as the saying goes to err is human and it’s in our nature to rely more on our emotional impressions than actual facts. However, I’ve found out that it’s possible to shortlist the candidates with the best suited skills for the position relying on facts and figures only. Pre-screening testing may help a great deal to find people with necessary skills set and afterwards you can check out their soft skills during the interview.
