Most of the time, when you violate an employment law and fire someone illegally, the worst thing that will happen to you is that you’ll get slapped with a big fine. But what happens if you don’t pay that fine and don’t follow the court’s instructions? Jail.

Timothy and Carley Dillett, “corporate officers” of Haven Salon + Spa in Muskego, Wisconsin, recently ignored an enforced order from the National Labor Relations Board. As a result of their refusal to pay the fines ordered by the NLRB, the Dilletts eventually ended up in civil court, and the U.S. Marshals Service also took them into custody.
