Former Abercrombie CEO Mike Jeffries was arrested today, October 22, on sex trafficking charges. Jeffries ran Abercrombie from 1992 to 2014.
While Jeffries is no longer CEO, the claims of bad behavior cover his time at the company’s helm. Last year, the BBC investigated Jeffries and found “an organized network used a middleman to recruit young adult men for the events with Mr. Jeffries and his partner, Matthew Smith, with some alleging they were abused.”
The article then goes on to say there was no evidence that Abercrombie was aware of these allegations.
Was no one at the office aware that Jeffries held these events? No one? No one in authority? Or did they turn a blind eye? I have to assume that if the BBC found no evidence, then there was no evidence. But this isn’t the first time Abercrombie has been in the news for bad behavior.
